Die Idee für "Das Wunschkabinett" entstand am 10. Juni 2024, einen Tag nach der Europawahl. Kein überraschendes Ergebnis, keine eingerissene Brandmauer, kein Sturm auf irgendein Kapitol. Aber einmal mehr Zahlen, die anti-demokratische Überzeugungen sichtbar gemacht und so das Gefühl von Bedrohung genährt haben. 

Diesem Gefühl wollen sich die Autor*innen entgegenstellen. Nicht mit Analysen, Klagen und Warnungen darüber, wie gefährlich die aktuelle politische und gesellschaftliche Lage ist, sondern mit konkreten, fantasiereichen und vor allem hoffnungsvollen Ideen dazu, wie eine bessere Welt aussehen könnte.

The idea for The Cabinet of Wishes emerged on 10 June 2024, one day after the European elections. There was no surprising outcome, no collapse of democratic safeguards, and no storming of any capitol. But once again, the numbers revealed anti-democratic attitudes and reinforced a growing sense of threat.

The authors want to confront this feeling—not with analyses, complaints, or warnings about the dangers of the current political and social climate, but with concrete, imaginative, and above all hopeful ideas about what a better world could look like.
